Dr. Nancy Herse Sedlack, Ph.D.
Dr. Sedlack is an independent child psychologist who is available as a resource for on-site consults in our Darien office. Dr. Sedlack is not a member of Stamford Pediatrics.
I was raised in Upstate New York and the Bay Area of California. After receiving a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California at Davis, I attended Cornell University where I earned a Ph.D. in Human Development. Additional training in clinical psychology was followed by a 2-year Post-Doctoral Fellowship in child psychology at Yale. After many years of working in private practice with children and families, I became interested in the integration of mental healthcare with primary care and subsequently re-located my practice into pediatric offices. Families benefit from this collaboration, and I enjoy the opportunity to see them grow and thrive over the years.
My husband and I have been married for almost 30 years; our 3 adult children have taught me more about parenting than I learned in all my years of training. I love spending time with my family (although now I have to travel more to do it!), working in my garden and adventuring.
I am available to meet with parents and/or children regarding a variety of issues and concerns. Common topics of discussion include:
- Behavioral challenges (e.g., aggressive behavior, avoidance)
- Emotional difficulties (e.g., anxiety, irritability, depression)
- Discipline
- Managing transitions (e.g., birth of a sibling, moving, new school, death)
- Sleeping and toileting difficulties
- Parenting quirky kids
- Discussing sensitive topics (e.g., sexuality, illness, death)
- Coping with being “different”
